Californians replace untold televisions, computers, monitors and other electronic devices annually. They store millions more in homes, garages and businesses, without a thought that many electronic products contain metal, plastic and glass parts, all of which can be harmful to the environment.
Owners are not always aware that it is illegal to simply throw away items like TVs or computer monitors because of the environmentally sensitive materials they contain.

This Saturday, the market, Reece Computers and Electronic Recyclers are teaming up to provide Coastsiders with a chance to safely unload unwanted, outdated electronics in a free e-waste collection event.
It will take place at the farmer's market, which will run as usual from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. , at Shoreline Station. The waste collection event will run until 2 p.m.
This event is being held in tandem with the EcoFaire/Solar Home Tour. The fair is taking place at the high school and the tour will touch on Coastside homes that use green technology such as solar panels. Both events are sponsored by an eco-tourism committee out of the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Bureau.
