Drunken driver nabbed in Moss Beach

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies were driving southbound at 2 a.m., Sept. 5, on Highway 1, when they encountered a car coming in the opposite direction - a car that crossed the centerline and almost hit them. Deputies pulled a U-turn and gave chase. The offender turned east onto Etheldore Avenue and continued to drive erratically. Deputies stopped the car and found a 19-year-old Moss Beach man who admitted to taking five shots of rum and smoking marijuana. The teen was arrested and taken to county jail.

El Granada

12:57 p.m., Sept. 1, Coronado Street

A 49-year-old El Granada man was found to be unable to care for himself and was arrested for public intoxication after he grew belligerent with emergency responders.

Half Moon Bay

Burglary tools

8:05 p.m., Aug. 30, Highway 1

Deputies stopped a car near the intersection of Terrace Avenue after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area. A 23-year-old transient in the car was subject to search by virtue of his probationary status. Deputies found tools typically used in burglaries and arrested the man and took him to jail.

8:04 a.m., Sept. 4, Miramontes Street

Police warned a woman about selling food without a permit and told her how to go about it legally.

Noise complaint

11:54 p.m., Aug. 25, Miramontes Point Road

Officers responded to a complaint of loud music coming from a restaurant that was hosting a wedding reception. The manager turned down the music.

Theft

4 p.m., Sept. 4, San Mateo Road

A store manager took a 47-year-old Half Moon Bay man under citizen's arrest after the man allegedly stole two beers. When police got there, the man was cited and released.

8:51 p.m., Aug. 30

A juvenile reported receiving an obscene phone call. The caller hung up when the parent got on the phone.

Montara

Dog bite

11:46 a.m., Sept. 3, 7th Street

Deputies were called about a vicious dog. A woman told them she was walking her dog off-leash when a pit bull that was also off the leash clamped its jaw around her dog. The dogs were separated and the woman's dog was treated at home.

Moss Beach

Vandalism

1:34 p.m., Aug. 30, Beach Way

Deputies responded to the Moss Beach Distillery after a report of vandalism. Someone apparently broke two windows at the restaurant a week earlier.

Weapons

1:40 a.m., Sept. 7, Del Mar Avenue

Deputies arrested 23-year-old Justin Michael Riss for felony possession of dangerous weapons after Riss admitted having illegal weapons in his car. Riss was on parole and forbidden from possessing the weapons. He was taken to county jail.

Pescadero

Medical call

7:17 p.m., Aug. 30, Madrone Avenue

Deputies responded to a call to find an inebriated man who couldn't stand up. He was covered with cuts and bruises and bleeding profusely from a cut on the forehead. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Warrant

1:57 a.m., Sept. 2, Pigeon Point Road

Deputies approached a car parked in a "no parking" zone and found a woman who reported she had had a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, who had since walked away from the scene. Deputies spotted the 39-year-old Sunnyvale man and subsequently found he was wanted on two outstanding warrants. He was taken to county jail.

Princeton

8:34 a.m., Sept. 1, Capistrano Road

A man told deputies that he was punched in the mouth by another resident of Pillar Point Harbor. The victim had a cut on his lip but refused medical attention.
