Anyone looking to sound off with ideas for improving the Pilarcitos Creek watershed restoration project should mark Saturday, Oct. 27, on the calendar.

That's when the San Mateo County Resource Conservation District will be holding the first of three public meetings on the matter. The district is spearheading the effort to continue restoring the watershed and manage competing uses of its water.

The meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Coastal Repertory Theatre at 1167 Main St. in Half Moon Bay.

"The goals of the workshop are to provide the public with information about the development of the watershed plan and to obtain public input on the work that has been completed thus far," said Kellyx Nelson, the district's executive director. "Based on this information, we will develop a draft plan that will be completed by January in time for the next public workshop. The final plan will be completed by next summer."

Nelson said that a wide variety of agencies with stakes in the health of Pilarcitos will send representatives to the meeting. These include the Coastside County Water District, the Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, Peninsula Open Space Trust, the Farm Bureau, Surfrider, San Mateo County, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
