A driver parked his car in front of his brother’s house on the 600 block of Avenue Cabrillo. The car owner accidentally left his keys in the ignition. He found his car missing when he stepped back outside.
Public Intoxication
3:20 a.m., May 2, Avenue Alhambra
San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies stopped to inspect a suspicious truck that was parked in the driveway of a home with the driver’s side door wide open. Approaching the vehicle, officers found an unconscious man lying on the concrete next to the truck with a pool of vomit nearby. Deputies say several snails were crawling over the man. Officers spoke to the man until he woke up. The 24-year-old man, identified as a Half Moon Bay resident, tried several times to sit up, but couldn’t do it. The man was arrested for public intoxication.

Three adult men were caught drinking booze at Cunha Intermediate School. The men were cited on the promise of appear in court.

10:08 a.m., May 8, Lewis Foster Drive
A female Half Moon Bay High School student says an alleged stalker threw juice at her and hit her in the arm. The girl and a friend cut class and went to a local coffee shop, where they saw a man who reportedly had been contacting one of the girls repeatedly. The girl and the man argued briefly, and the two girls returned to school, where the man was waiting for them in his car. When the girls passed by, the man reportedly jumped out of his car and threw orange juice at the girl. The man denied hitting the girl.

9:35 p.m., May 6, Ronald Court
Responding to a 911 hang-up call, police determined that a father and his adult son had been fighting before they arrived. The son fled before police arrived, and the father declined to put his son under citizen’s arrest.
10 a.m., May 6, Lewis Foster Drive
Two Half Moon Bay High School students were involved in a fight that resulted in no injuries. One student was suspended for starting the fight.

Somebody broke into an unlocked shed and stole a bicycle, valued at about $350.

Drug paraphernalia including hypodermic needles and a bent spoon were found in the street.

Diesel fuel was spilled onto the street. Police and firefighters contained it.
Hit and run
May 5, Highway 1
An unknown driver crashed into a streetlight pole, causing it to block a driveway and nearly break in half. The driver took off immediately afterward.
9:30 a.m., May 8, Main Street
Two cars got into an accident in downtown Half Moon Bay. One driver, an elderly woman, refused to give her contact information and left the scene before police arrived. Officers located the woman at her home and she admitted to being involved in the crash.

9:57 p.m., May 6, Highway 1
A 32-year-old homeless man was reportedly shouting at no one in particular. Police arrested the man, saying he was too drunk to take care of himself.
Theft
9:56 a.m., April 29, Miramontes Point Road
Someone stole a purse at a company event at a hotel. The purse and its contents were estimated to be worth about $190.
5 p.m., May 8, Main Street
A woman reported that a man who spent the night with her stole her cell phone and $50 in cash. The man denied the charges.
7:45 p.m., May 10, Highway 1
A purse was stolen from a car at a Half Moon Bay restaurant.
Vandalism
8 p.m., May 5, Third Avenue
A resident suspected a door-to-door solicitor may have damaged his car. The man turned away the salesman and then noticed a dent and some scuff marks on his car about 15 minutes later. Police were called in and checked the area, but they couldn’t verify anything.
4:36 p.m., May 8, Correas Street
Gang-related graffiti was found in the men’s bathroom at Half Moon Bay Library.

8:21 a.m., May 6, Terrace Avenue
A 25-year-old homeless man was found sleeping under a tree. Officers contacted the man based on a complaint and discovered he had a misdemeanor warrant from Contra Costa County. He was taken to the county jail.

Burglary
1:06 p.m., May 1, Highway 1
A car parked on the shoulder of Highway 1 was burglarized as its owner went for a short walk. Returning after about 20 minutes, the car owner found his vehicle’s front window smashed. The burglar stole a brown jacket and an iPod cable, together worth about $26.
Moss Beach
DUI
10:02 p.m., May 3, Highway 1
Deputies following a car near the Half Moon Bay Airport noticed the vehicle pull to the side of the road and turn on the hazard lights. The driver explained that his car was out of gas and he was going to call a relative for a ride. But deputies could smell the alcohol on his breath. The driver tried to do sobriety tests and failed, and he was arrested.
Poisoning
4:52 p.m., May 1, Virginia Avenue
A dog owner noticed her canine was acting strangely last month, refusing to eat or drink. Petting her dog, she noticed clumps of fur were coming off in handfuls. The next day, the owner found the dog dead in the backyard. A veterinarian said the blood in the dog’s stomach indicated poison could have played a part in the death.
