Midcoast traffic talks rolling in

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Feb 03, 2010 - 11:04:23 am PST

A three-day brainstorming session on the Midcoast last summer rendered a detailed report of traffic and mobility in El Granada and Miramar, and outlined some extreme options for improving them, including realigning Highway 1 through the Burnham Strip.

County Parks Department Director Dave Holland hopes to do the same thing again this summer for Montara and Moss Beach.

To do that, Holland’s department needs money and community support. The last study session brought together planning experts from Sacramento who took public input and produced the report for $122,000.

Midcoast residents can expect an extension of that initiative — “Phase II” — to be the topic of discussion in coming months. It’s slated as the topic of a Midcoast Community Council meeting on Feb. 10, and a Midcoast Parks and Recreation Commission meeting Feb. 24.

Holland will be at the MCC meeting to present findings from the first report and rally support for the second.
